As we come to the end of 2018 the Board would like to update the membership on our progress with the St George rebuild. As was reported at the recent Club AGM, the Submission of the Development Application to Bayside Council (DA-2018/243) was made on the 18th September 2018. At the time of writing we have yet to receive councils determination, however we have been advised we should hear back before Christmas.

While we are waiting for the council to respond to our Development Application, the building committee have been busy meeting with potential builders and doing the groundwork required to be ready to go to tender for contractors as soon as we receive an approved DA. We have also retained industry experts Russell Corporate Advisory, to prepare an independent report on all aspects of the St George project . We are expecting this report, including recommendations, early next year.

We therefore expect to be in a position to present the proposed final details of the St George rebuild to members in early 2019. It is expected that our presentation will include confirmation of Development Application approval, the approved design for viewing, the costs of the rebuild based on the approved design, a 10 year cash flow forecast for both Manly and St George venues, proposed timeline from this meeting through to St George reopen date in 2020, and the Russell Corporate Advisory report on the project.

Once we have all these things received and confirmed we will advertise details of the information session.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Management and Staff from both our club venues,  we would like to wish all our members and their families a safe and Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year. To all our sailors and volunteers participating in upcoming Championship events we wish you good luck and favourable conditions.

Yours in Sailing
